Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that features numerous conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
